L'Agrume Paris
We saved the best for last. Chef Frank Marchesi-Grandi, formerly of the Plaza Athenée, is a one man show in the open kitchen of L'Agrume, preparing every delicious moment of the five course prix fixe for the bargain price of €35. The poached John Dory was divine. Every dish was remarkable, including, yet again two fabulous desserts. The always smiling hostess, above with the chef, more than makes up for the drab decor.
L'Agrume, 15, rue des Fosses Saint-Marcel in the 5th.

Best Dressed: 2009 MTV Movie Awards

I was sadly disappointed with the majority of the fashion choices at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, BUT the few who dressed to impress looked fabulous! Leighton Meester and Sienna Miller were by far the best dressed in my opinion. I just adore both of them so I was happy that they actually put some effort into their wardrobes for the night. Leighton wore a racy Emilio De La Moreno frock and Sienna dazzled in green dress from her own line, Twenty8Twelve.

Monday morning shop post - Market Import
It's getting cold and wintery here in Melbourne so I thought I'd brighten things up with a little taste of Mexico in Melbourne in the form of Market Import. This lovely homewares shop is hidden away in Morey Place behind the High Street, Armadale shopping area. It's been around for over 20 years, so obviously Melburnians like the vibrant goods on offer.
This green Mexican fabric makes a wonderful backdrop, and wouldn't the little chest of drawers make a wonderful addition to a child's room...
Vibrant appliqued cushions that would brighten up any outdoor area...

Tin star-shaped light fittings would also look lovely outdoors on a verandah...
Green glass bell-shaped light fittings...

Mexican tin mirror and rustic ceramic planters...

Green ceramic plates and bowls with Marimekko fabric used as a tablecloth (I actually have this fabric stretched over a canvas and hanging in my hallway - I love it)...

Brightly striped yellow & white sun lounge cushions (doesn't the pinky-orange gate at the back of the shop look fantastic - it fits right in with the Mexican theme of the courtyard)...
Well I think that between this post and my post from last Thursday I've had my quota of 'brightness', so it's back to my favourites now, i.e. lots of muted tones, neutrals and whites for me.

Le Chateaubriand Paris
Our first night out in Paris we were fortunate enough to finally get to Le Chateaubriand in the 11th. This unassuming casual restaurant belies the fact that the food is extraordinary and very reasonably priced. Every part of the 5 course prix fixe was incredibly delicious and interesting. I especially loved the sardine with cherries. You even get two desserts. And of course the staff is rakishly handsome. Highly recommended.

Perfect pot
Well after a very quiet weekend I'm almost fully recovered from whatever virus it was that robbed me of much of last week. Damn nasty bug!
Anyway, this post is for my sister Jacky - I just wanted her to see how lovely the very rustic pot that she gave me for my birthday looks on my back deck...
Not sure whether to leave the pot empty or to plant something (just don't know what!) in it. Mmmm, I'll have to give that some thought.
