Sandals, Mandals, Whatever
Call them what you will, but Sandals (Mandals) are perhaps the most difficult men's shoe to get right. Too much foot, kind of ugh. Too much sandal, what's the point? Chic sandals can be worn with everything from shorts in the day to denim and dressier pants in the evening. The right pair should be as comfortable on the beach as dinner at Citta Nuova in East Hampton Village. Just please remember to get a pedicure.
My picks from Barneys NY. From Maison Martin Margiela, a classic single toe loop semi-gladiator style that completely covers the heel with a metal buckle. From Jil Sander a more modern approach that wraps around the ankle with a velcro closure.
