Ann Demeulemeester Lightlane Pants

So, this is a story of absolute fashion obsession. I've been dreaming of this pair of Ann Demeulemeester Black Lightlane Wool drawstring pants ever since I first laid my hands on them. The wool is extremely lightweight, almost like a silk crepe, so light in fact that it can be worn all summer long. They can be worn to work or on weekends casually, but somehow they will still work in a more formal setting with a jacket. But, they were pricey and I spent days hunting for something similar, but lower in price, to no avail. Certain levels of quality simply cannot be duplicated at a lower price. The competition also had to contend with an amazing slim fit: the rise is perfect and the ankle has a dramatic taper. Ann Demeulemeester cuts a mean pair of pants in the most luxurious fabric.

My indecision did not pay off: my size sold out. I even desperately purchased the women's version, but they did not fit properly, so I promptly returned them. I even went so far as to contact Ann Demeulemeester in Belgium inquiring if they had them or if anyone else in the US had purchased this style in my size, and the answer was sadly, no. I finally located a pair one size larger than I wanted (miles and miles away) and brought them to my favorite tailor and had them slimmed down to my size. I can't wait to pick them up today. Thanks for listening to my insanity.

The moral of the story: when you find something that you love and know in your heart is perfect, buy it or spend countless days and nights hunting it down.

Special thanks to Barneys NY, Ann Demeulemeester, Aloha Rag, H. Lorenzo, and IF Soho.
