Sleep No More by Punch Drunk
We immersed ourselves in "Sleep No More" this weekend and it was quite the disorienting thrill. After donning our Venetian carnival masks and being instructed to remain silent, we wandered through an incredible array of intricately and eerily decorated 1930s period rooms in a former West Chelsea warehouse (The McKittrick Hotel for this performance). Loosely based on Macbeth through the lens of Hitchcock and Kubrick, one encounters various actors at different stages of the vague narrative, free to follow whom you will. Among the rooms: Apothecary, Taxidermy, Sweet Shop, Children's Room, Hospital, Detective Office, Graveyard, Hotel Front Desk. Let yourself go a little and be entertained in this sophisticated haunted house.
Website here. Final performance September 5.
