Maison Ladurée New York

For its first venture in the United States, Maison Ladurée (founded in 1862) has chosen 864 Madison Avenue in New York City to house its myriad sweets, teas and signature macarons. Ladurée is credited with inventing the modern macaron some 60 years ago when they had the inspiration to sandwich two of the classic almond cookies with a delicious filling. My favorites are Pistache and Citron. Soho store to follow in Spring 2012.

Round Swamp Farm in East Hampton

An institution in East Hampton, Round Swamp Farm on Three Mile Harbor Road, has the finest produce and prepared food in the area. I don't think a weekend has gone by without some of their delicious guacamole, salsa and picnic chicken. Everything is undeniably delicious. We spied Patrick Demarchelier selecting raspberries yesterday and learned from one of the owners that he was the very first house account at Round Swamp Farm.
Macaroon Magic
We've used them before in stories and they featured heavily in the Sophia Coppola movie Marie Antoinette - they are of course macaroons, those delicate little irresistible sweet treats.

We have it on good authority the best place to shop for macaroons is Ladurée in Paris. Not only is the store itself exquisite but the packaging is divine and worth keeping forever. And speaking from first hand experience, the macaroons are something else. Somehow, Emma managed to bring some back for us after her last trip to Paris. We all milled around the brilliant collection as if we were viewing a box of jewels. They were almost too beautiful to eat, but eat we did and they were fantastic.

Their newest addition is a selection devised by Tricia Guild, founder and Creative Director of Designers Guild. I love the colour combination and would snap this little box up in a heartbeat given half the chance.

Laduree's spectacular macaroon cake would make a fitting end to any celebration. Given their extensive flavour choices, there is sure to be a combination to suit every wedding. What fabulous inspiration.

Takes the Cake
Are these the cutest little cakes you've ever seen or what? What a fabulous way to incorporate cupcakes into a bridal shower tea. Found at flickr from Bakerella.

Congratulations
It's no easy task pulling off gorgeous food shots - it takes a team of truly talented people including chefs, stylists and photographers. It's something we take seriously at Wedding Style Guide as we know how important food can be at a wedding.

One of the teams we call upon is The Food Business who recently won Best Contemporary Restaurant at the SA Restaurant and Catering Awards so well done them.
