Robert Marc: Tokyo Tortoise

Every summer I search the world over for the perfect pair of sunglasses and this year was no exception. I have always been a huge fan of Robert Marc and I own several pairs now, but I still always check out the competition. What a waste of time.

This year I was determined to find a classic/retro style in Black and when I visited Robert Marc Bleecker Street, Anna patiently showed me everything they had to offer, but then she surprisingly brought these out, announcing that they had just arrived. At first, I thought absolutely not, but somehow after trying them on, I realized they would be the perfect lift to my mostly Black, White and Grey wardrobe. Lesson learned: try to shop with an open mind.

These are style 633 in Tokyo Tortoise, a new and limited finish from Robert Marc. I love the exotic texture, combined with a heavier temple, and of course RM's signature hardware. Handmade in France and worth every penny.

My favorite sunglasses are inevitably Robert Marc. They are completely on another level in terms of quality and design. The details and finishing are truly unsurpassed. The only logo is an iconic signature hinge. In an age of throwaway cheap sunglasses, he clearly still cares about Luxury.

I need a Black retro pair this season: something that feels a little mod and a touch geek chic, while still being sophisticated and timeless. What I love about these shades in Black is that the interior of the plastic is layered with "Gray Feather", which adds the most beautiful texture.

So, will it be RM 616 or RM 617? Robert Marc website here.

The Tom Ford Peter aviator, featuring the designer's signature cross over bridge applied to a classic aviator shape, has been around since 2009 and was up and front in his advertising campaign featuring Jon Kortajarena in nothing but a pair of Peters.

But, the newest cross over style, the Tom Ford Felix aviator, modeled by Nicholas Hoult, who was also featured in Tom Ford's A Single Man, have a much larger and more square silhouette.
