Havaianas X Missoni X Jeffrey NY

Summer will be here shortly and I always get a fresh pair of Havaianas. I was lucky enough to get advance notice about the Havaianas X Missoni collaboration from Jeffrey NY and I went in the day they arrived to pick up my pair. I know $60 for a pair of flip flops seems insane, but hey I've never claimed sanity when it comes to fashion. At least they came in a cute box with a sweet little Missoni nylon mesh bag.

Lanvin High Tops Spring 2011

The CHANEL sneakers were nice, but only Lanvin takes the humble sneaker to couture heights with sophisticated color combos and exotic treatments. My new Lanvin high tops are a dazzling mix of Graphite suede and Bronze metallic calfskin, topped off with Burgundy patent and a glowing Graphite cap toe. I count 6 different materials in the upper alone, yet somehow there is an abstract harmony. So much for I don't wear sneakers.

Prada Spring 2011 Linen Creeper

The oft blogged about Prada Spring 2011 runway Frankenstein wingtip espadrille is the Fashionista shoe of the season. I do appreciate the heights to which Prada will go to produce a hot-selling "of the moment" item. However, I prefer this Linen pair with a more subtle Grey rubber sole (sans braided jute trim). The natural linen is more summery and won't get the dreaded, "Don't stomp your little last season Prada shoes at me, honey," --Legally Blonde, come 2012.

Dries Van Noten Spring 2011 Pencil Shorts

Occasionally runway presentations don't speak to me. That would definitely be the case with Dries Van Noten Spring 2011. I did not care for the model casting, styling and especially the over use of bleach spattered denim. However, once the pieces started to arrive I realized that the gorgeous textiles and masterful cuts are still there beneath the brash runway pieces.

A perfect example are these slim pencil shorts in Navy blue tropical weight wool. Dressy enough to pair with a button down shirt and blazer for a grown up schoolboy look, yet casual enough to work with a tee or tank, perhaps topped with a cotton cardigan. I would pair them with lace up derbies (um, no socks please) or sandals. These shorts are precisely slim, but not freakishly tight. The fabric and finishing is of the quality I have come to expect from Dries Van Noten.
