The day after Christmas shopping is a holiday tradition in which I am embarrassed to admit that I participate. But, this year I did have the excuse of the impending snow storm, plus I needed to exchange a gift at Barneys NY.

Barneys NY was totally picked over, so I had no luck there, but at Bergdorf Goodman Men, I scored two pieces that I'd been considering, but was honestly just hoping for a better price. So with 40% off + 33% off additional, these were a steal. I just couldn't NOT buy them.

The Lanvin Steel Grey cotton shirt features a triple collar with raw edges. The subtle deconstructed detail is not very obvious until you are up close (the Navy collar hides between the two Grey ones). The shoulder seams, placket and doubled cuffs (Navy inside) also have raw edges. The trick with most of the Men's RTW at Lanvin are these sophisticated details of deconstructed Luxury.

The Dries Van Noten Blue cardigan is lightweight wool and is made in Belgium, where the label is based. With the shifting of global production, I was pleasantly surprised to see that something was still produced in Belgium. I love the muted colors of the textured silk applique on the placket of the otherwise classic cardigan. Even when buttoned up, this silk detail will show. I see this with a plain tee and jeans.

Both pieces are actually a great score for my early Spring wardrobe and will serve me well on my trip to LA and Palm Springs later this Winter.

Dries Van Notenfest Continued

I know I just posted this shirt in Sky Blue yesterday, but I actually bought it in Midnight Blue a few weeks ago before the final markdown. What can I say? I love Dries Van Noten and this shirt is beautiful in both colors.

Dries Van Notenfest at Barneys NY

The final markdown of 60% at Barneys NY was enticing enough to pick up a few last pieces of Dries Van Noten this season. The two button down shirts are beautiful and lightweight, so they are my first Pre-Spring purchases. One in a Sky Blue cotton floral damask and the other in a Navy and White cotton pinstripe. The Black t-shirt with the "polaroid" print of what appears to be a Fall/Winter 2009 Dries Van Noten runway look was too cute to resist--also perfect for Spring/Summer. The knit cap is a little gift for Eric.

Monday Outfit

I finished my Christmas shopping on this beautiful day and I wore a Uniqlo plaid pea coat, Prada Navy gingham cotton button down shirt, Dries Van Noten Burgundy wool vest, Uniqlo dark denim skinny jeans, Hermès Grey Cashmere/Silk Losange, Hermès Black H belt, JM Weston black shoes and Hermès Black Birkin.

Return of the Monday Outfit

After a two week hiatus the Monday Outfit returns. I ventured out on this cold December day in a Prada Navy wool pea coat, Hickey Cream cashmere cable knit sweater, Uniqlo dark skinny jeans, Dries Van Noten Black belt, Hermès Grey cashmere/silk losange scarf, Balenciaga Grey boots and my Black/Rouge Vif Hermès Birkin.

On this unseasonably warm day, I wore a +J Navy wool blazer, Zara Navy v-neck thermal, Uniqlo skinny dark denim jeans, Dries Van Noten black belt, Balenciaga grey boots, Alexander McQueen burgundy silk scarf and Bottega Veneta Ash Fume matte crocodile tote.

On this brisk Fall morning, I wore a Rick Owens Dark Grey leather jacket, Uniqlo Black merino wool v-neck sweater, Uniqlo Black skinny jeans, Balenciaga Grey boots, Dries Van Noten Black leather belt, Hermès Grey cashmere/silk losange scarf and a Bottega Veneta Black tote.

Dries Van Noten Sleeveless Jacket Vintage Fall 2009

I was very keen on this sleeveless wool herringbone jacket from Dries Van Noten Fall 2009, but I never ended up seeing it at retail. It has a unique double hook an eye closure for a clean tailored/double breasted fit with no buttons in sight. I also love the signature detail of the contrast underlining of the collar, which was used heavily this particular season.

Well, cruising ebay one day, I came across the jacket in my size, brand new with tags, for much less than half of the original retail. Done.

Dries Van Noten Chunky Bi-Color Turtleneck

What can I say? I love a chunky turtleneck. In the Fall, it's the perfect layer for cozy warmth and this Dries Van Noten will be stunning paired with slim white jeans (yes, I wear white jeans after Labor Day). When the temperature drops, a chunky turtleneck is the only thing that keeps me warm under a wool coat, without sacrificing style. This soft cable knit sweater gets a crisp Dries Van Noten color block treatment in Beige and Navy, giving your shoulders some extra oomph.

What appears to be aggressive dye spatter, is actually hand painted by a couture atelier in Lake Como, Italy and contrasts beautifully with the delicate silk and cotton fabric of this Dries Van Noten Spring 2011 scarf. 60% cotton/40% silk.

I suppose if I had a signature item of clothing it would be a blazer. I have so many blazers and almost all of them are two-button, notch lapel and very sharply tailored. But, I am feeling the need for something more relaxed, and non-chalant.

I must have tried on every sandal from Christian Louboutin, Lanvin and Dior Homme combined before deciding on this simple pair from Dries Van Noten. I appreciate that the design covers the "toe cleavage" and I love the unique combination of Black calfskin and Black coated canvas with a contrasting tan suede insole. Now if the weather would just warm up.

Dries Van Noten Fall 2011: Favorite Paris Show

In an ode to David Bowie in Camel, White, Navy and Black, there were so many looks from Dries Van Noten Fall 2011 that I fell in love with so instantly that I had a hard time editing. I love the restrained use of fur and the pop of white. The ultra structured blazers with peaked shoulders paired with flowing wider pants looked very new. But, on the other extreme the color blocked pencil trousers were also very appealing. The perfectly bold chunky turtleneck in Black and Camel is a must. Finally, the over the top regal embroidered jacket would make quite the entrance--or exit for that matter.
