Barneys on SALE: Rick Owens

I have recently become enamored with Rick Owens. His unapologetic goth style appeals to my color weary eyes this Fall/Winter season. I'm living in dark neutrals. Barneys just had the first designer markdown (40% off) and I scored two long sleeve knit t-shirts and a knit hat. The first t-shirt is in Black ribbed rayon/silk that I wrote about here. The other in a shade that only Rick Owens could dub "Bitter" in all cotton with an asymmetrical back seam. The Grey ribbed knit hat is merino wool, baby alpaca and nylon, is feather light and arrived just in time for December weather. Thanks Brenda for all your help.

The Rick Owens T-shirt

Need a little something sexy for a night out dancing? The classic Rick Owens long sleeve semi-sheer ribbed t-shirt in Rayon/Silk is perfect for the birthday dance party I will attending in a few weeks. Being tissue thin and ultra soft, this sexy t-shirt is also an ideal layering piece. The long length allows one to gather the shirt around the torso and arms to create just the right look, even hiding a few, um, physical shortcomings. I love the signature back seam and raw edges. I like it best in Black, but it is also available in a few other signature shades like Bitter and Drkshadw (sic). Available at Rick Owens New York store and Barneys New York.

Monday Outfit

On this brisk Fall morning, I wore a Rick Owens Dark Grey leather jacket, Uniqlo Black merino wool v-neck sweater, Uniqlo Black skinny jeans, Balenciaga Grey boots, Dries Van Noten Black leather belt, Hermès Grey cashmere/silk losange scarf and a Bottega Veneta Black tote.

Rick Owens Bronze Stools

These exquisite bronze stools, part of "Pavane For A Dead Princess" by Rick Owens at Salon 94, are a precariously tense balance of heavy constructed bases and light organic antler forms. The perfect throne for a Rick-clad queen.

We attended the opening on Saturday evening and had the pleasure of meeting the unassuming artist in a swarm of his adoring fans.

€6,000 per stool, limited edition.

Salon 94, home of artist Marilyn Minter, will be hosting the latest exhibition of furniture by Rick Owens this Saturday night. The stag stools from 2009 are from an exhibit in London at Sebastian + Barquet and I bet we will see more of these signature pieces from the Paris-based fashion designer. The show stopper will be the alabaster bed which is "a cross between sleeping beauty's glass coffin and Christ's empty tomb".

Wedges or Medges (Man-Wedges) from Rick Owens are the best invention to add 4" to your height. They lengthen the leg and add a stomp to your stride. Pushing the boundaries? Definitely. Fabulously daring? Absolutely.

The black smooth calf skin version is available now. If you prefer the black python, you are going to have to wait until Fall/Winter 2010. I have always dreamed of being over 6 feet tall.

Available at Rick Owens NYC and Luisaviaroma.com.
