Louis Vuitton Damier Graphite Adjustable Organizer

My friend Christopher recently acquired this Louis Vuitton wallet and I am so impressed with the clever new design. In handsome Damier Graphite, it may seem a tad on the large size, but it is the perfect wallet to keep in your bag, with three removable pieces inside, so that you can take only what you need in your pocket. Perfect for credit cards, business cards, receipts, cash, change and keys. It even fits his iPhone.

Available here. $550 USD.

Louis Vuitton Beauborg Sporty Bag

Friends often ask me to recommend an every day gym bag. This newer style from Louis Vuitton is very well thought out. With open pockets on either side for keys and gym membership cards, an open pocket at one end (perhaps for a small water bottle) and three interior pockets (for wallet and smart phone), it is a compact solution. Plus, the cotton straps will fit comfortably on the shoulder. Dimensions: 19.7" x 9.4" x 9.4". $1000 USD.

Louis Vuitton And The American Red Cross

To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the American Red Cross, Louis Vuitton has graciously offered to donate 10% of the purchase price for every Keepall, Speedy, Alma or Noe bag in Monogram Canvas sold on line during November 2009 in the US. What a great way to pick up a classic and help a worthy cause.

LVMH takes 14.2 % stake in Hermès

Hermès Spring 2011
image: style.com

Saturday, October 23: LVMH, the world's largest maker of Luxury goods has announced that it will purchase shares equivalent to a 14.2% stake in Hermès. After conversion of derivatives, LVMH will hold a total of 17.1% of Hermès. It is not clear exactly how LVMH procured such a large stock holding in Hermès, but there is speculation that it could have been purchased directly from an Hermès family member or simply on the open market.

The announcement from LVMH:

“The objective of LVMH is to be a long-term shareholder of Hermès and to contribute to the preservation of the family and French attributes which are at the heart of the global success of this iconic brand." “LVMH fully supports the strategy implemented by the founding family and the management team.”

Though this "hands off" statement is quite clear, I am certain that over time LVMH will exert influence over the continuing expansion of the Hermès brand. What does that mean for the future of Hermès? I fear that this true Luxury brand will join the mass Luxury fray. Does the Hermès client care? I think so.

Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Kim Jones Debut

images: style.com

Kim Jones, the new artistic director of menswear at Louis Vuitton has redefined the Vuitton man. What Mr. Jones has done with his first show is to remake the Vuitton man into someone younger, more modern and more at ease than his predecessor--like the previous Vuitton man's rakish younger brother (Prince Harry anyone?). The youthful spirit was instep with the house's ever present travel theme, this time taking us on a hike through Kenya in a brilliant tableau of Massai inspired textiles, showcasing the scarf of the season. There was even a tuxedo with shorts and sandals.

Louis Vuitton Etole Tattoo

For Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2011, Marc Jacobs naturally tapped NYC based tattoo artist Scott Campbell to join the ranks of Richard Prince and Takashi Murakami for the Luxury brand's latest collaboration. After all, Scott's work is permanently featured on the Marc Jacobs' body. In addition to temporarily adorning the Spring/Summer 2011 runway models with neck tattoos, Scott Campbell also contributed images of the Chinese Zodiac to the Louis Vuitton Etole Tattoo.

Thank you Osman for helping me to choose the Khaki over the runway featured Blue.

Limited quantities available at Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide.

Louis Vuitton Speeedy Bandoulière (Shoulder Strap)

Louis Vuitton Speedy 40 Bandoulière (Shoulder Strap)

The iconic Speedy from Louis Vuitton is now available with a true shoulder strap, making it more closely resemble its Keepall progenitor. In the photograph the strap does not appear long enough to be worn cross body, but there is another length of strap included, which will make it much longer. I am thinking that a 40 could make a nice man bag, but I won't be sure until I try it on.

Available here. $1070 USD.

Monday Outfit: Black

Well, we're back in NYC and what else to wear but Black. I'm wearing a Rick Owens Black silk/rayon ribbed long sleeve knit, Gaultier Black ribbed wool cardigan, Rag and Bone Black wool topcoat, Uniqlo Black skinny jeans, Common Projects Black lace-up boots, Louis Vuitton Leopard Stephen Sprouse stole and an Hermès Black Fjord Plume.

Sofia Coppola and Louis Vuitton

I have been thinking about the Sofia Coppola City Bag from Louis Vuitton since its debut earlier this year. The clever hybrid of a Speedy and Keepall, available in suede, smooth calfskin and monogram canvas, is irresistible. The second photo is a modeling shot of a Deluxe Duck himself carrying this bag, courtesy of Deluxe Duck. I'm not entirely sure a man can pull it off. Ultimately, the size of the bag is fine, but I decided that the scale of the handles and their hardware is what presents the problem for men. They are just too dainty. Better to leave this one to the girls.

When I saw this Forever 21 scarf I was reminded of the Louis Vuitton version above, so I decided it would make a great inspired by find. If you're interested in purchasing this scarf, it can be yours for $6.60 and also comes in two other color combinations. Click on the photo below to purchase or view your other color options.
